RICHARDSON – The Texas A&M University-Commerce soccer team had four honorees in the annual Lone Star Conference awards, which were announced Tuesday.
 
Jen Peters was named Goalkeeper of the Year, Leslie Campuzano and Cora Welch earned first team all-conference honors, and Melissa Storey was named to the all-freshman team. Individual awards were selected by division following a vote of the league's head coaches.
 
Peters – a sophomore from Allen – is the first Lion to ever win the LSC Goalkeeper of the Year Award. She had one shutout on the season with a 2.22 goals against average and made a program-record 15 saves in the LSC Tournament against West Texas A&M. This is her first LSC yearly honor.
 
Campuzano – a senior from Garland (Lakeview Centennial) – earns her third all-conference honor after bringing home second team All-LSC laurels in 2017 and 2019. She ranked second in the conference in points per match (2.29), led the league in assists per match (.857), and was third in goals per match (.714). She had a team-high five goals and six assists.
 
Welch – a senior from Plano Senior High – earns her second career all-conference award, as she was a second team honoree in 2019. She was a strong two-way player with two goals and an assist, including both goals in a 2-1 win at Midwestern State.
 
Storey – a freshman from Tyne and Wear, England – was a top two-way player for the Lions in her debut season, scoring a goal in the regular season match against West Texas A&M.
 
The Lions went 4-3 in the abbreviated 2021 spring season, advancing to the divisional semifinal round of the LSC Tournament.
