FRISCO – For the second time this season, Texas A&M University-Commerce soccer defender Mindy Shoffit is named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday morning.
 
Shoffit (Wichita Falls – Rider) logged 171 minutes in the two wins last weekend, including the 2-0 shutout win at UIW on Friday and scored the match-winning goal in the 2-1 win at HCU on Saturday. She is part of the Lion defensive back-four that allowed just five shots on Friday and eight shots on goal on Sunday.
 
She is the fifth player in the conference this season to receive multiple weekly honors. She was also named the Defensive Player of the Week on October 4. Mya Mitchell (Dallas – Mesquite Horn) was also honored that week as the SLC Offensive Player of the Week.
 
The Lions, who are in third place in the SLC standings, conclude the regular season at home on Friday at 7 p.m. against McNeese.
