Full 2023 schedule unveiled for Lion Softball

COMMERCE – The Texas A&M University-Commerce softball team has released the complete schedule for the 2023 season, which features five non-conference tournaments to start the season.
 
The 2023 season is the first for the Lions in NCAA Division I and Southland Conference as well as the first under the guidance of coach Brittany Miller. The conference schedule was released earlier this fall, but the Lions now know the teams they will face at the non-conference tournaments.
 
The Lions begin the season with the Aggie Classic in College Station. A&M-Commerce faces Michigan State and Northern Kentucky on February 10, followed by an evening matchup against Texas A&M on February 11, and closes out the tournament with games against the Aggies and Tarleton on February 12.
 
The second tournament of the season comes in Stephenville at the Tarleton Tournament. The first two games come on February 17 against Akron and Northern Colorado, who the Lions also play on the morning of February 18. The Lions and the Texans play on both February 18 and 19, marking three matchups between the two former rivals this season. A&M-Commerce faces Creighton on February 19 as well.
 
The following weekend at the Baylor Tournament, the Lions are the only non-Power Five team in the four-team tournament in Waco. On February 24, A&M-Commerce faces Minnesota and Maryland and faces Baylor on February 25. Following the round-robin between the teams, the top seed will play the fourth seed, while the second seed will face the third seed in the second game on February 25. The winners of the semifinals play in the championship game on February 26 and the losers play in the consolation game on the February 26 as well.
 
The first tournament outside of Texas comes in Tucson, Arizona on March 3-5. The first two matchups on March 3 are against Montana and Cal State Northridge, respectively. A&M-Commerce faces Arizona on March 4 and closes out the weekend with games against Nebraska and Weber State on March 6.
 
The final non-conference tournament is on March 10-12 at Nevada. The Lions play Southern Utah and Nevada on March 10, Nevada once again on March 11, and close out the tournament against Southern Utah on March 12.
 
The Lions return to Texas to face North Texas in Denton for a doubleheader on March 14 before beginning Southland Conference play.
 
The first Southland Conference game and first home game of the season comes with a doubleheader on March 17 against Nicholls and the series closes out on March 18. A&M-Commerce is back on the road at McNeese on March 24-25 and Southeastern on March 31-April 1.
 
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is in Commerce on April 7-8. Then the Lions head to Houston Christian for a mid-week series on April 11-12 and head to Arkansas on April 18.
 
The Lions are back home on April 21-22 against UIW and host the final home series against Northwestern State on April 28-29. The regular season concludes at Lamar on May 5-6.
 
The Southland Conference takes place in Lake Charles, Louisiana, hosted by McNeese on May 9-12.
