NATIONAL AND CONFERENCE RECOGNITION
Lion pitcher
Alyssa LeBlanc (Katy) was named National Pitcher of the Week by NFCA on February 22, following a perfect game against Fort Lewis on February 16. She was also named Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week, joining teammate
Emily Otto (Lamar Consolidated), who earned the award earlier this season.
A LOOK AT THE LIONS
A&M-Commerce enters this week with a six-game winning streak and outscored its opponents 62 to 13 at the West Texas A&M Invitational last weekend. The Lions have hit 30 doubles this season, which is 10
th in the country.
Ayanna Williams (Round Rock – Cedar Ridge) has seven doubles this season, which is ninth in the country and has team-leading 22 RBIs.
MacKenzie Dugi (St. Hedwig – East Central) leads the team with a batting average of .436, also has four doubles, two triples, a home run, seven RBIs, and is a perfect 7 for 7 in steal attempts.
Last weekend,
Uxua Modrego (Burlada, Spain) hit four home runs against Adams State, becoming the first player to do so since 2019 across all three NCAA divisions.
Avery Boley (Fort Worth – Nolan Catholic) is batting .386 with 16 RBIs and two home runs.
The Lions have used four starters through 12 games thus far this season. Otto has an ERA of 1.98 over 46 innings with 55 strikeouts and a record of 6-1. LeBlanc is 2-2 with an ERA of 3.25 and 28 strikeouts over five appearances.
As a team, A&M-Commerce has a fielding percentage of .956.
WHAT'S AHEAD
After the doubleheader against the Savage Storm on Tuesday, the Lions head west once again. The Lions begin Lone Star Conference action at Eastern New Mexico on Friday and close out the weekend at West Texas A&M on Sunday.
SCOUTING THE SAVAGE STORM
Southeastern Oklahoma State snapped a two-game losing streak by taking the getaway day game against Harding on Monday afternoon. The Savage Storm came into the weekend having won seven of their last nine.
Peyton Streetman is batting .391 with two triples and seven RBIs. Kamarie Wallace has team-leading 16 RBIs as well as two home runs. Cheyenne Mahy has 14 RBIs with a batting average of .380 and one home run.
In the circle, Amberlyn Walsworth and Mahy have seen bulk of the action, both appearing in 13 games each. Walsworth is 5-5 with an ERA of 3.12, 51 strikeouts and four complete games. Mahy has an ERA of 3.99 with 34 strikeouts and an opposing batting average of .286.
