FRISCO – Texas A&M University-Commerce men's basketball guard
Demarcus Demonia has earned the Player of the Week award from the Southland Conference on Monday afternoon.
Demonia (Fort Washington, Md.) averaged 25.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in the two games last week. He scored 19 against Nicholls, while scoring 32 in the overtime win at McNeese. He has scored 30 or more points in two of the three conference games, both that the Lions have won, and is the conference leader in scoring average as well as ninth in rebounding.
This is the first weekly honor for the Lions this season, their first in NCAA Division I and the Southland Conference. A&M-Commerce had two weekly honors last season and this is the first career weekly honor for Demonia.
The Lions, who are 2-1 in conference play, are back on the road on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Houston Christian and host Lamar on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
