KINDER, La. – The Texas A&M University-Commerce basketball teams started their seasons on Tuesday by appearing at the Southland Conference Basketball Media Day at the Coushatta Casino Resort.
The Lions were represented in Kinder by both head coaches
Jaret von Rosenberg and
Valerie King, as well as student-athletes:
Tommie Lewis (Vero Beach, Fla.) from the men's team and
Mia Deck (Frisco – Lone Star) from the women's team.
The day began with the four Lions appearing on the Southland Conference Media Day broadcast on ESPN+, followed by a content creation 'car-wash' of shooting pictures and videos for Southland Conference social media channels.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Southland Conference preseason polls and all-conference teams were released.
The Lion women were picked eighth going into their first season under King, while von Rosenberg, who enters his seventh season, and the Lion men were picked seventh.
Jerome Brewer Jr. (Camden, N.J.) also earned preseason second team all-conference honors.

Both teams now look ahead to their season openers on November 6. The Lion men are at Texas A&M at 7 p.m., while the women host LeTourneau at 5 p.m.
