Lions finalize basketball schedules, announce new season ticket packages

COMMERCE – Texas A&M University-Commerce has finalized basketball schedules for the 2023-24 season and announced new season ticket plans, which includes new reserved seating and parking options for the 30 home games.

The Lion men go into the 2023-24 season under the leadership of coach Jaret von Rosenberg, who enters his seventh season, while the Lion women will be coached by first-year coach Valerie King. Both teams made the Southland Conference Tournament a year ago as the No. 5 seeds in their first season in NCAA Division I and the SLC.

MEN'S BASKETBALL NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE
The non-conference slate for the Lions has been finalized and includes games against Power Five Conference opponents and perennial regional powers.

A&M-Commerce starts the season with four straight road games, beginning on November 6 at Texas A&M. The Lions are at Texas Tech on November 8, Kentucky on November 10, and return to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to face Purdue Fort Wayne on November 12.

The first home game of the season comes against University of Science and Arts (Okla.) on November 15 at 7 p.m., which is followed by a quick trip to Philadelphia to face Saint Joseph's on November 17.

The Lions open a three-game homestand on November 20 at 7 p.m. against Stonehill, while hosting Denver on November 26 at 1 p.m. and Dallas Christian at 7 p.m. on November 29.

The matchups against Kentucky, Saint Joseph's, and Stonehill are part of the Wildcat Challenge presented by Kentucky Tourism. Stonehill is also a transitioning Division I member, joining the Division I ranks the same year as the Lions.

The Lions play the first of two games against their Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex counterparts on December 3, when they face SMU in Dallas at 2 p.m.

The annual Education Day game returns in 2023-24 with A&M-Commerce welcoming Northern Colorado at 11 a.m. on December 11 and the final game before the holiday break comes on December 18 at home against Arlington Baptist at 11 a.m. The Lions tip off 2024 and close out non-conference play on New Years' Day at TCU.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE
The Lion women's non-conference schedule was announced earlier this summer and remains the same. The Lions host mid-major powers Utah Tech (November 20) and Southern Utah (December 5), while also hosting Houston on December 8 at 7 p.m.

The game against Houston is the first time that A&M-Commerce is hosting a Power Five opponent in the regular season in any sport.

CONFERENCE GAME TIMES
The Southland Conference schedules for the Lion men and women remain the same as announced earlier this summer. The game times for all home conference games have been determined.

The Lion women will tip off at 6:30 p.m. for all Thursday home SLC games and 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays, while the Lion men will tip off at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoons and 7 p.m. on Monday nights, except for January 15 against UIW, when the Lions will tip off at 1 p.m. on Martin Luther King Jr., Day.

The regular season concludes with a doubleheader at home on Wednesday, March 6, against Northwestern State. The Lion women will tip off at 5 p.m. and the men will tip off at 7:30 p.m. for that day.

NEW SEATING MAP IN THE FIELD HOUSE
A new feature for the 2023-24 season is reserved seating opportunities in addition to reserved courtside seating, which debuted last season.

As part of the new seating map in the Field House, the east side bleachers, which are directly behind the team benches and the scorers' tables are now fully reserved. The west side bleachers, opposite of the team benches, are now the Lions' Den Student Section, exclusively open to Lion students and the new home of the Pride Marching Band.

All general admission seating is limited to the bleachers on the south side of the Field House.

Section C on the east side, located right at mid-court, is reserved exclusively for Lion Champions Fund members, while reserved seats in Section A, B, D, and E can be purchased by the general public.

The courtside seats return this season and now include access to an exclusive hospitality area prior to and at halftime of each home game.

The new seating map in the Field House can be found below.

RESERVED PARKING
Also new this season is the opportunity for fans to secure a reserved parking spot directly in front of the Field House in Lot 4 for all 30 home games. Reserved parking spots are priced at $150 for the season, equal to $5 per game. Those not interested in purchasing a season-long reserved parking pass can purchase parking on a single-game basis for $10 per home game.

All fans must have a season ticket or a single game ticket in order to purchase a parking spot.
