FRISCO – Texas A&M University-Commerce soccer team has earned a Southland Conference Player of the Week award for the second straight week as Melissa Storey was named the SLC's Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday morning.  
 
The Lions just played one match last week, but Storey (Tyne and Wear, England) made her mark. She had an assist on the first goal of the match, scored the second goal herself, and tallied an assist on the Lions' third goal of the first half as A&M-Commerce collected a 4-3 win over Houston Christian.
 
Storey is the fourth different Lion to earn SLC Player of the Week honors this season. Sophia Dean (Spring – Grand Oaks) has earned goalkeeper of the week honors twice, while Kaydence Ramirez (Waxahachie) and Nya Mitchell (Dallas – Mesquite Horn) have been named offensive and defensive player of the week, respectively, once this year.
 
The Lions sit at the top of the Southland standings and have won six in a row, heading into two tough tests this weekend. A&M-Commerce hosts A&M-Corpus Christi for the Hispanic Heritage Month Block Party on Friday at 7 p.m. and heads to Lamar on Sunday, who is also undefeated in conference play, at 1 p.m.
