COMMERCE – The countdown is on for the 2024 Texas A&M University-Commerce football season as the seven-game Southland Conference slate was announced on Thursday morning.
 
The Lions play all seven other teams in the Southland, hosting four games on Ernest Hawkins Field at Memorial Stadium. A&M-Commerce is slated to play a full conference schedule for the first time since joining the Southland, as it only played six SLC games in 2022 and 2023.
 
The conference slate season begins with a big one for the Lions on the road. A&M-Commerce plays at Nicholls, the defending Southland champion, and a NCAA FCS Playoff participant, on September 28.
 
Following a week off, A&M-Commerce returns to Lake Charles, Louisiana, on October 12 to play McNeese. The Lions are 2-0 against the Cowboys over the last two seasons, winning 40-15 in Lake Charles in 2022 and 41-10 at home last season.
 
The Lions host four of their final five conference games, beginning with Houston Christian on October 19. The last time the Huskies visited Commerce, the Lions won 31-3.
 
Northwestern State comes to A&M-Commerce on November 2. The Lions and the Demons did not meet last season. Lamar plays in Commerce on November 9, which is the Cardinals first trip to A&M-Commerce since 1962.  
 
The final road conference game is on November 16 at Southeastern. In 2022, A&M-Commerce downed No. 19/20 ranked Southeastern, 31-28, the last time the two teams met in Hammond, Louisiana.
 
The 2024 season ends at home on November 23 against UIW. The Lions are playing at home on the final regular season weekend for the third year in a row.
