LAST TIME OUT FOR THE LIONS
A&M-Commerce has competed in just one meet so far this season and it was on January 12 at the Arkansas Invitational. The Lions had three school records set at the meet, highlighted by
Celeste Sela (Mont de Marsan, France), who received the Southland Field Athlete of the Week honor following the meet.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR THE LIONS
Next week, the Lions split the squad with one contingent competing at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on February 9-10, and the other headed to the Howie Ryan Invitational in Houston on February 9.
A LOOK AT THE LION MEN
The men's team is led by
Ibrahim Fuseini (Accra, Ghana), who is second in the Southland Conference with a time of 6.75 seconds in the 60 meter dash, while
Tyke Owens (Lebanon Trail) is ninth with a time of 6.88 seconds.
Philip Krenek (Kostelní Strimelice, Czech Republic) is ninth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.19 seconds.
Zayden Davis (Colorado Springs, Colo.) returns to his home state, while leading the Southland in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.02 seconds.
The Lion 4x400 meter relay squad of Davis,
Tomlee Thomas Jr. (Baytown – Channelview),
Eddie Barrientes (Fort Worth – Chisholm Trail), and Krenek rank second in the Southland with a time of 3:18.78.
In field events,
Nikita Strogalev (Kiev, Ukraine) cleared 14-7.25 (4.45m) at the Arkansas Invitational, which puts him sixth in the Southland.
Justin Vincent (Agde, France) is fourth in the conference with a mark of 23-6.75 (7.18m) and
Chandler King (Hughes Springs) is sixth with a mark of 23-1.75 (7.05m) in the long jump. Tahje Parrish (Picayune, Miss.) ranks third in the triple jump with a mark of 48-0.75 (14.65m).
A LOOK AT THE LION WOMEN
Leah Pettis (McKinney North) and
Kiara Brown (Dallas – Carter) are second and fourth in the 60 meter dash with times of 7.56 and 7.57, respectively. Pettis is also third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.42 seconds.
Veronika Kramarenko (Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine) is second in the conference with a mark of 5-8.75 (1.75m) in the high jump, while
Magdaline Campo (Haiti) and
Jenneil Jacobie (Piat Grand Rivière, Saint Lucia) are tied for fourth with matching marks of 5-5 (1.65m).
In the long jump, Sela is second with a mark of 19-7 (5.97m).
Dejah Fuller (Waxahachie Life) is third in the triple jump with a mark of 39-3.25 (11.97m).
Cassandra Rendon (San Antonio – Madison) is eighth with a mark of 38-10.25 (11.84m) in the shot put.
