FORT WORTH – In a rare early-season meet that was scored, the East Texas A&M University men's track and field team took fifth at the TCU Alumni Invite, while the women finished seventh at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex on Saturday.
Nineteen events were scored for the men and the women in the meet this weekend, which was the Lions' first outdoor meet of the season with the men totaling 59 points and the women scoring 47 points. UT Arlington tallied 121 points on the men's side for the team win, while Oklahoma took the women's meet with 131 points.
MEN
For the Lions,
Myles Redding (Waco – University) won the 400 meter dash with a time of 46.57 seconds.
Josh Shanahan (Noosville, Australia) clocked in at 15:19.54 for sixth in the 5,000 meter run and Naataanii Collins (Edcouch-Elsa) took 11
th with a time of 15:45.04.
Cash Goodman (Blue Ridge) finished ninth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.04 and
Evan Ealy (Klein Collins) came in 11
th with a time of 15.07 seconds. He also took sixth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 55.34 seconds.
Both
Enoch Fosuhene (Accra, Ghana) and
Cheyne West (Rochester, England) came in the top six in the 200 meter dash. Fosuhene had a time of 20.80 seconds for second, while West ran a time of 21.30 seconds for sixth.
The meet concluded with the Lions taking second in the 4x400 meter relay as the squad of
Jonas Gran (Riehen, Switzerland), Fosuhene, West, and Redding timed 3:11.81.
Over in the field events,
Jammel Ward (Royse City) made his Lion debut with a mark of 24-4.25 (7.42m) for second in the long jump, while
Justin Vincent (Agde, France) took third with a mark of 24-3.75 (7.41m) and
Jean Duparay (Servian, France) had a mark of 23-0.75 (7.03m) for seventh.
Cannon Samples (The Colony) cleared 14-7.25 (4.45m) for seventh in the pole vault. Gran threw 193-5 (58.97m) for fourth in the javelin.
WOMEN
Three Lions finished in the top 11 in the 5,000 meter run as
Haleigh Risner (Winnsboro) finished second with a personal-best time of 18:05.41, followed by
Riley Roberts (Bullard) in 10
th with a time of 19:04.12 and
Hannah Stuart (Canyon) finishing 11
th with a time of 19:23.56.
The Lion 4x100 meter relay team of
Savannah Harvey (Shawnee, Kan.),
Niamh Le'Gall (Wallasey, England),
Sydnee Wilson (Lewisville), and
Leah Pettis (McKinney North) came in second with a time of 46.40 seconds.
Sannae Hassnaoui (Midelt, Morocco) had a time of 2:10.80 for second in the 800 meter run.
Samarah Green (Abilene – Cooper) clocked in at 1:03.33 for eighth in the 400 meter hurdles.
In the 200 meter dash, Le'Gall took second with a time of 23.59 seconds. The meet on the track concluded with the 4x400 meter relay quartet of Wilson, Pettis, Le'Gall, and
Mareva Heck (Marseille, France) taking ninth with a time of 3:59.90.
Peyton Berry (Argyle) came in second in the pole vault, clearing 12-5.5 (3.80m) and
Kira van den Ham (Bunnik, The Netherlands) placed ninth with a mark of 11-5.75 (3.50m).
