PITTSBURG, Kan. – The East Texas A&M University men's track and field team kicked off the 2024-25 indoor season on Friday night with five runners competing in the Crimson & Gold Invitational at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
All five runners for the Lions competed in the five-kilometer race on Friday night, while the rest of the meet will be held on Saturday. Full results of the meet can be found

Alex Speer (Robinson) paced the Lions with an 11
th place finish, timing 14.58.53, followed closely by
Casey Novelo (Bedford – Trinity) in 13
th with a time of 15:07.46 and
Nicholas Deutsch (Frisco) in 14
th with a time of 15:09.41.
To round out the Lion five,
Jeremiah Garcia (Northwest Eaton) was 21
st with a time of 15:29.94 and
Josh Shanahan (Noosaville, Australia) took 24
th in his first collegiate indoor race with a time of 15:39.63.
"After cross country season, our guys took an end of season break and recently started back training. For them to come out on a December night and perform at the level they did, puts us in a very good place in our buildup for the spring season," said assistant coach
Mark Hamiter.

The first full indoor meet of the season comes on January 10 at the McFerrin-12 Degree Invitational in College Station.
