FRISCO – Texas A&M University-Commerce track & field student-athletes Ibrahim Fuseini and Kiara Brown have been named Southland Conference Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Fuseini (Accra, Ghana) is named the men's track athlete of the week, while Brown (Dallas – Carter) is this week's women's track athlete of the week.
 
The Lions have competed in just two meets thus far this season and have increased their season total to three thus far this season as Celeste Sela was named the women's field athlete of the week earlier this season.
 
Fuseini breezed through the 200 meter dash on Saturday to win the race at the Colorado Invitational. His time of 21.10 seconds is fastest in the Southland this year and top 40 in the country. He also competed in the 4x400 meter relay, racing to a time of 3:18.78, which was the fastest time in the conference last week and second fastest overall.
 
Brown won two races at the Colorado Invitational, setting the school record and the best time in the Southland in both. She raced to a time of 7.37 to win the 60 meter dash and won the 200 meter dash of 23.44. Even Deion Sanders was impressed with her performance and met up with her in his office after the meet, which can be watched HERE.
 
The Lions compete in two meets this weekend, competing at the Howie Ryan Invitational on Friday at Houston and the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Friday-Saturday.
