West breaks own school record in 400m hurdles on Friday in College Station

COLLEGE STATION – The East Texas A&M University men's track and field 400 meter hurdles school record stood for 31 years, but has now been broken twice in the last week as Cheyne West highlighted the Lions' performance on Friday at the 44 Farms Team Invitational inside E.B. Cushing Stadium.
 
COMBINED EVENTS
Friday was the second day of the combined events in the meet as Evelyn Cortes (Bogotá, Colombia) scored 4,391 points for 18th. Tina Samson (Benin, Nigeria) ended Thursday in 17th place, but did not compete on Friday.
 
Over in the decathlon, Joshua Kommer (Balingen, Germany) placed 15th with 4,307 points.
 
MEN
West (Rochester, England) took second with a time of 51.31 seconds, which is 0.01 seconds faster than his time at the Texas Relays last week. James Curcio (France) had a time of 54.40 seconds for 18th.
 
Two Lions finished in the top four of the 200 meter dash as Enoch Fosuhene (Accra, Ghana) timed 20.62 seconds for second, while Oguz Uyar (Cannakale, Turkey) clocked in at 20.68 seconds for fourth. Both Lions are now top 30 in the country with those times.
 
Christian James (Rosharon – Manvel) ran a season-best time of 1:54.56 for 12th in the 800 meter run. Andrew Crosby (McKinney Boyd) timed 4:13.08 for 14th in the 1,500 meter run. Naataanii Collins (Edcouch-Elsa) had a personal-best time of 15:25.36 for seventh in the 5,000 meter run to end the evening.
 
Over in the field events, Jeyden Coleman (Humble – Summer Creek) took 18th in the discus with a mark of 150-8 (45.92m). Jammel Ward (Royse City) recorded a jump of 24-7 (7.49m) for fifth in the long jump.
 
WOMEN
The Lions had three runners finish in the top seven of the 5,000 meter run as Anete Randma (Tallinn, Estonia) clocked in at 17:28.51 for third, followed by Edith Martinez (Sulphur Springs) running a personal-best time of 18:21.50 for sixth and Riley Roberts (Bullard) taking seventh with season-best time of 18:33.79.
 
In the 400 meter hurdles, Samarah Green (Abilene – Cooper) finished 19th with a time of 1:03.90. Mareva Heck (Marseille, France) clocked in at 2:16.14 for fourth in the 800 meter run and Kaat De Staercke (Zemst, Belgium) timed 2:19.41 for sixth. Hannah Stuart (Canyon) came in 13th with a personal-best time of 4:49.90 in the 1,500 meter run.
 
Ella Patterson (Kingsbridge, England) had a throw of 153-7 (46.81m) for 14th in the hammer throw. Romi Griese (Salzkotten, Germany) threw 165-0 (50.29m) for fourth in the discus.
 
Rivka Goede (Curaçao) had a jump of 18-2.25 (5.54m) for 16th in the long jump. Peyton Berry (Argyle) was included in the invitational section of the pole vault and cleared 12-4.25 (3.77m), which was tied for eighth, but she placed 11th based on attempts.
