COMMERCE – Texas A&M University-Commerce softball has added
Josh Reeves to the coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Reeves arrives to A&M-Commerce after serving on the staff at UIW for the last two seasons, being part of the one of the biggest turnarounds in Southland Conference history. The Cardinals improved from a 16-win season in 2023 to 34 in 2024, which included a runner-up finish at the Southland Conference Tournament.
"We are excited to have Coach Reeves join our coaching staff with his recruiting abilities, knowledge, and his passion for our game," said coach
Brittany Miller. "His experience is going to enhance our program, and we cannot wait to get working this fall!"
While at UIW, Reeves focused on the outfield, slap-hitters, speed, and recruiting. He introduced mental Masters to the team, creating a platform for strongly mentally focused student-athletes.
Reeves said, "I am truly honored to join Coach Miller and Coach Bustos at A&M-Commerce. Coaching alongside these two, who have achieved so much success at the highest levels, is an opportunity of a lifetime and I can't wait to get to work.
"The university and local community are working hard and are fully invested in providing us with every opportunity to build championship teams, and the future is bright. Go Lions!"
Prior to joining the college coaching ranks, Josh won a TAPPS state championship as an assistant coach with UIW High School and spent his time coaching elite club teams for the Texas Bombers, Firecrackers, and 2014 PGF National Championship game with Diretv Genies Elite.
Reeves and his wife Lonnie have five children and three of their daughters have played or will play in college. Daughter, Natalia, played at Texas State, while Melania is currently at Texas State, and Ca'Mora is playing at Clark Atlanta University. In addition, he has a son, X'Zavier, who is in high school and a three-year-old daughter, Brynleigh.
Originally from Waverly, Iowa, Reeves spent his high school years as a four-sport athlete and earning a baseball scholarship from Grand View University. He moved to Texas in 1999 and called San Antonio home, before coming north to Commerce.
He holds a bachelor's degree in business finance and has a love for numbers, data, and the stories they tell.
Outside of Coaching, Reeves is a 27-year executive leader and co-founder of his international company supporting some of the most well-known brands throughout the U.S., Latin America, Africa, and Europe in sales, marketing, operations, and expansion activities.
For the last 15 years, he has been focused on launching and growing BPO operations for clients looking to move into and through hypergrowth and exit strategies. With over $150M in closed deals, Josh is highly effective in growing companies and multiplying revenue.
