COMMERCE – East Texas A&M University football student-athlete
Mitchell McGarry has been named to the Academic All-District team, as selected by the College Sports Communicators.
McGarry (Tannum Sands, Australia – Gregory-Portland) wrapped up his senior season for the Lions. He is one of five honorees from the Southland Conference this year.
Having received both his undergraduate degree and graduate degrees from East Texas A&M, McGarry completed his Masters of Business Administration last fall, having also been selected to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Prior to the 2024 season, he was named to preseason all-Southland Conference. He finished the season averaging 39.8 yards per punt with a long of 65 and 23 punts inside the 20.
McGarry has been top five in the SLC for punting average over the last three years and ranks third in program history in punt attempts and punt yards. He was also a nominee for the FCS Punter of the Year award in 2024.
Throughout his Lion career, he has also served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
