FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The East Texas A&M University cross country teams got a preview of the site of this year's NCAA Regionals on Saturday morning as they competed in the Chile Pepper Festival at Agri Park.
The Lion men finished 20
th as a team in the eight-kilometer race, totaling 549 points, while the Lion women did not register a team score. Arkansas won the men's race on its home course, while the women's race of five kilometers was won by Texas.
Jeremiah Garcia (Northwest Eaton) was the top finisher on the men's side with a time of 25:16.0, followed by
Josh Shanahan (Noosaville, Australia) in 79
th with a time of 25:25.7, Naataanii Collins (Edcouch-Elsa) timed 26:07.5 for 131
st, and
Yosef Abdulrazeq (Mansfield Legacy) had a time of 26:23.0 for 148
th.
To round out the Lion men,
Andrew Crosby (McKinney – Boyd) clocked in at 27:44.8 for 225
th,
Taylor Warrick (Stockdale) finished 228
th with a time of 27:52.2, and
Christian James (Rosharon – Manvel) timed 28:32.1 for 247
th.
On the women's side, the Lions had just four runners compete.
Edith Martinez (Sulphur Springs) was the fastest Lion runner with a time of 19:00.9 for 135
th,
Mareva Heck (Marseille, France) timed 19:23.6 for 179
th,
Aamarie Ebarb (Weslaco) clocked in at 20:36.9 for 233
rd, and
Haleigh Risner (Winnsboro) had a time of 21:21.9 for 251
st.
