FRISCO – Three members of the East Texas A&M University cross country teams have been named to the Southland Conference All-Academic Teams on Thursday afternoon.
 
Christian James (Rosharon – Manvel) earned all-academic honors on the men's side, while Edith Martinez (Sulphur Springs) and Haleigh Risner (Winnsboro) earned the distinction on the women's side.
 
To be eligible for the Southland All-Academic team, each nominee must have a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); completed at least ONE full semester at the nominating institution during the season in which the nomination occurs; and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's meets in the position listed on this form during the most recently completed season.
 
James is an accounting major, while being named to SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll and Dean's List recipient. He finished 73^rd at the conference championships and 157^th at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships.
 
Martinez was the team's best finisher at the conference championships, placing 29^th, while taking 145^th at the regional championships. She is an elementary education major and also a Dean's List and SLC Commissioners Honor Roll recipient.
 
Risner led the way for the Lion women at the regional championships, placing 125^th. She finished 58^th at the SLC meet. Risner is also a Dean's List Recipient and SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree and is a biological sciences.
