FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – An event win and several season and personal bests highlighted the Arkansas Qualifier for the East Texas A&M University track and field team on Friday at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
The Lions now prepare for the Southland Conference Indoor Championships, which begin on Sunday, March 2 in Birmingham, Alabama, and conclude on Monday, March 3.

POST MEET INTERVIEW
MEN
Ushan Perera (Mahabage, Sri Lanka) cleared his first three jumps on the first try and won the high jump meet with a mark of 6-11 (2.11m), while
Xak Edwards (Greenville) cleared season-best 6-7 (2.01m) for seventh.
In the long jump,
Justin Vincent (Agde, France) qualified for the finals and jumped 23-3.5 (7.10m) for ninth.
Tahje Parrish (PIcayunne, Miss.) recorded a mark of 46-0 (14.02m) for seventh in the triple jump.
Both
Tyke Owens (Frisco – Lebanon Trail) and
Kingsley Ayebide (Sapele, Nigeria) made finals in the 60 meter dash by times of 6.89 seconds each. In the finals, Aydebide clocked in at 6.83 seconds for fourth and Owens timed 6.85 seconds for fifth.
Nicholas Deutsch (Frisco) and
Josh Shanahan (Noosaville, Australia) went 2-3 in their heat with times of 4:09.45 and 4:09.53, respectively, in the one mile run, both times were also personal-bests.
WOMEN
On the track for the Lion women,
Leah Pettis (McKinney North) timed 7.51 seconds for seventh in the prelims and make finals. She did not race the finals race. She also finished fifth with a time of 24.02 seconds in the 200 meter dash.
Romi Griese (Salzkotten, Germany) made finals in the weight throw and placed eighth with a throw of 49-3.75 (15.03m), which came in her fourth throw and is a new personal best. In the triple jump,
Dejah Fuller (Waxahachie Life) recorded a jump of 38-4 (11.68m) for third.
Cassandra Rendon (San Antonio – Madison) threw a new personal-best of 39-3.25 (11.97m) for ninth in the shot put.
