SAN MARCOS – Marie Baertz is two strokes off the lead as the East Texas A&M University women's golf closed out the second round of the Southland Conference Championships on Tuesday at the Kissing Tree Golf Club.
Baertz (Luxembourg) entered the day in a tie for fourth and shot a 70 to climb into a tie for second place with a score of 144 entering the final round of the conference championships. Augusta's Zoe Pinillos leads the field with a score of 142, two strokes ahead of Baertz and UIW's Isabella Saenz.
The Lions have totaled a team score of 606 after two rounds, being in sixth place. A&M-Corpus Christi holds a 10-stroke lead atop the team leaderboard with a score of 586, ahead of Augusta.
Julianna Crow (Trinity School of Midland) is in 17
th place with a score of 151 (75-76),
Fahsai Inmee (Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand) had a 10-stroke improvement in the second round and is in 24
th place with a score of 154 (82-72).
To round out the Lions,
Jordan Dusckas (Flower Mound Marcus) is 31
st with a score of 158 (79-79) and
Marie Naeher (Neuenbuerg, Germany) is tied for 35
th with a score of 162 (84-78).
The final round of the SLC Championships begins on Wednesday morning. Naeher is the first Lions to tee off at 8:30 a.m. followed by the rest of the team in 10-minute intervals.
