WALNUT, Calif. – Romi Griese broke her own school in the discus for the second time this weekend as the East Texas A&M University track and field team closed out the California trip with the Beach Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday.
WOMEN
At the Mt. SAC Relays,
Magdaline Campo (Montpellier, France) cleared 5-10.75 (1.80m), which was tied for fourth in the high jump, but she placed eighth based on attempts.
In the Beach Invitational,
Blessing Samuel (Ghana) jumped 18-6.5 (5.65m) for 18
th in the long jump. She also took 17
th in the triple jump with a mark of 38-0.75 (11.60m), while
Amaka Ezukanma (Fort Worth – Timber Creek) placed 10
th with a mark of 39-9.25 (12.12m).
Romi Griese (Salzkotten, Germany) broke her own school record in the discus, which she set on Thursday, by throwing 175-0 (53.35m) for sixth. That mark is also top 50 in the country and leads the SLC.
Cassandra Rendon (San Antonio – Madison) threw 164-4 (50.09m) for 10
th.
MEN
Philip Krenek (Prague, Czech Republic) timed 48.01 seconds for 10
th in the 400 meter dash at the Beach Invitational.
UP NEXT
The Lions are off next week and take part in the Corky/Crofoot Shootout in Lubbock on May 2-3, which is the final meet before the conference championships.
