TORONTO – Another East Texas A&M University football player has joined the professional ranks as defensive back
King Ambers was drafted by the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League as part of the 2025 CFL Draft.
A native of Pickering, Ontario, Ambers was picked in the eighth round with the 68
th pick by the Redblacks. In his four-year Lion career, Ambers appeared in 37 games, recording 59 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, one forced fumble, and seven pass deflections.
Ambers is the third former Lion that is expected to be on CFL roster next season, which begins on June 5. Celestin Haba, who was most recently a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Jalon Edwards-Cooper is on the BC Lions roster.
