Both 4x100 meter relay squads, Rendon set school records as Lions end regular season in Lubbock

LUBBOCK – Two East Texas A&M University records fell as the track and field team closed out its regular season at the Corky/Crofoot Shootout at the Fuller Track and Field Complex on Thursday and Friday.
 
The Lions now set their attention to the Southland Conference Championships, which are scheduled for May 15-17 in Houston.

WOMEN
To start things off on the track, the quartet of Savannah Harvey (Shawnee, Kan.), Sydnee Wilson (Lewisville), Leah Pettis (McKinney – North), and Kiara Brown (Dallas – Carter) broke the school record in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 44.29 seconds. It is also 40th in the country.
 
Brown and Harvey went 7-8 in the 100 meter dash with times of 11.63 seconds and 11.72 seconds, respectively. In the 400 meter hurdles, Kayla Effiong (DeSoto) timed 1:03.16 for seventh and Analice Pursley (Georgetown – East View) took eighth with a time of 1:04.99.
 
Four Lions finished in the top eight in the 200 meter dash. Pettis clocked in at 23.57 seconds for second, Brown timed 23.86 seconds for fourth, Wilson timed 23.92 seconds for sixth, and Cece Charles (Morne Fendue St.Patrick, Grenada) timed 24.06 seconds.
 
The meet closed out with the 4x400 meter relay team of Roane Lion (East View), Anayah Copeland (Copperas Cove), Wilson, and Charles clocking in at 3:49.70 for second. 
 
Tina Samson (Benin, Nigeria) threw 109-9 (33.45m) for third in the javelin. Samson came in fifth in the long jump with a mark of 19-0 (5.79m), while Blessing Samuel (Ghana) jumped 19-0.5 (5.80m) for third. Samson also timed 15.12 seconds for eighth in the 100 meter hurdles.
 
In the triple jump, Amaka Ezukanma (Fort Worth – Timber Creek) jumped 40-5.5 (12.33m) for third in the triple jump. 

On Friday, Cassandra Rendon (San Antonio - Madison) threw 177-1 (53.98m) for third in the discus, which is a new school record and 46th in the country this year. Romi Griese (Salzkotten, Germany) recorded a throw of 164-7 (50.17m) for fifth in the discus and threw a new personal-best of 38-2 (11.63m) for eighth in the shot put, while Rendon took sixth with a mark of 41-2.25 (12.55m). 
 
MEN
The 4x100 meter relay team of Oguz Uyar (Cannakele, Turkey), Enoch Fosuhene (Accra, Ghana), Armani Modeste (Castries, Saint Lucia) started the day on the track with a time of 38.98 seconds, which is a new school record and 13th in the country.
 
Fuseini clocked in at 10.03 seconds for third in the 100 meter dash, which would be a school record, but the wind was -3.1 meters per second, while Fosuhene ran a time of 10.20 seconds for fourth. Myles Redding (Waco – University) timed 1:53.18 for sixth in the 800 meter run and Christian James (Manvel) clocked in at 1:54.08 for eighth.
 
Evan Ealy (Klein Collins) finished eighth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 54.15 seconds. In the 200 meter dash, Fosuhene timed second with a time of 20.52 seconds.
 
The Lions raced two teams in the 4x400 meter relay. The 'A' team of Modeste, Redding, Philip Krenek (Prague, Czech Republic), and Jedadiah Stockton (Humble) won the race with a time of 3:10.32 and the 'B' team of Nate, Gran, Kommer, and Chris Flores (Rocksprings) timed 3:18.20 for third.
 
Jonas Gran (Riehen, Switzerland) led the way for the Lions in the javelin with a throw of 175-1 (53.37m) for third, while Joshua Kommer (Bahlingen, Germany) threw 165-1 (50.11m) for fourth and Joshua Nate (Geneva School of Boerne) threw 125-2 (38.17m) for fifth.
 
Ethan Pham (Houston – Kelly) placed third in the hammer throw, recording a mark of 144-10 (44.15m). Justin Vincent (Agde, France) jumped 23-2.75 (7.08m) for fifth in the long jump, Cedric Johnson (Naples – Paul Pewitt) jumped 23-0 (7.01m) for sixth, and Jean Duparay (Servian, France) placed seventh with a mark of 22-7.75 (6.90m) for seventh.

On Friday, Sebastian Yervasi (Dallas - Bishop Lynch) and Pham went 4-5 with marks of 46-0 (14.02m) and 43-11.25 (13.39m), respectively. Micah Johnson (Angleton) threw 148-2 (45.18m) for eighth in the discus.
