GUANGZHOU, China – East Texas A&M University men's track and field sprinter
Ibrahim Fuseini is once again set to represent the Lions on the global stage as he competes in the World Athletics Relay Championships for his home country of Ghana this weekend.
Fuseini (Accra, Ghana) was selected by Ghana to race in the World Athletics Relay Championships, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday in Guangzhou. The best relay teams from the championships will qualify for the 2025 World Athletics Championships, who are on September 13-21 in Tokyo.
The races being contested this weekend are the men's and women's 4x100 meter and 4x400 meter relays as well as mixed 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays. The top 14 teams in each relay following the championships advance to Tokyo.
Last year, Fuseini was part of Ghana's 4x100 meter relay team that competed at the World Athletics Relay Championships and clinched a berth into the 2024 Paris Olympics as Fuseini was one of three Lion Olympians.
Fuseini is currently the Southland Conference leader in the 100 meter dash and part of the 4x100 meter relay team that set the school record and also leads the SLC.
