LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the eighth consecutive year, the East Texas A&M University volleyball team has received the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT.
During the 2024-25 academic year, the Lions posted an overall team grade point average of 3.53 and advanced to the postseason for the 13
th season in a row.
This is the eighth consecutive, ninth time in 10 years, and 11
th time overall in program history that the Lions have received this honor. East Texas A&M is one of eight schools from the Southland to receive the honor for indoor volleyball in 2024-25.
The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale. Around the country, a total of 1,450 collegiate and high school volleyball teams were honored, which is a new record.
