FRISCO – East Texas A&M University track and field sprinter
Oguz Uyar was named this week's Southland Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday afternoon.
Uyar (Canakkale, Turkey) won the 200 meter dash at the New Mexico Team Open with an altitude-adjusted time of 20.88 seconds. The time is the fastest in the Southland this season, broke his own Turkish National record, and 18th in the country thus far this season.
He also competed in the 60 meter dash, timing 6.82 seconds in the prelims.
The Lions have won a weekly honor from the Southland for the second week in a row. This is the first weekly honor for Uyar in his career.
