Sanae Hassnaoui ran two races this weekend at the Bryan Clay Invitational and broke the East Texas A&M University track and field record in both races, while also winning one of the sectional races at the Cougar Athletic Stadium.
Hassnaoui (Midelt, Morocco) was the lone Lion to record times at the premier outdoor track and field for distance runners. On Friday, she won the 'Open A' section of the 800 meter run with a time of 2:06.29, breaking a school record set by Brikel Bailey on May 23, 2014, in Allendale, Michigan.
She followed that up with a time of 4:15.69 for 12
th in the 1,500 meter run invitational on Saturday evening, break her own school record that she set two weeks ago at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos.
Over at the Beach Invitational,
Romi Griese (Salzkotten, Germany) was the only Lion that competed in the meet at the Jack Rose Track. She had a throw of 172-0 (52.44m) for seventh in the discus, being just three feet away from her school record that she set last season at this meet.
Anete Randma (Tallinn, Estonia) did race in the 5,000 meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational, but she did not finish.
