FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – East Texas A&M University women's track and field student-athletes
Jenneil Jacobie and
Romi Griese placed in the top 35 on Saturday in their respective events to close out the NCAA West First Rounds at John McDonnell Field.
The top 48 entries from the West Region qualified for the First Rounds this week, with the top 12 qualifiers in each event at this week's meet advancing to the NCAA National Championships.
Jacobie (Piat Grand Rivière, Saint Lucia) tied her season-best mark in the high jump by clearing 5-9.25 (1.76m) to tie for 29
th. She cleared 5-7.25 (1.71m) in her first attempt and 1.76 meters in her second, while failing to clear 5-11.75 (1.81m).
In the discus, Griese (Salzkotten, Germany) threw 165-3 (50.36m) for 31
st. Her best throw of the day came in her third and final attempt.
The Lions end the year with a sixth-place finish at the Southland Conference Championships, four individual conference titles, and four entries into the regional championships in their first season as full Division I members.
