COMMERCE – East Texas A&M University had six student-athletes named to the Academic All-District teams, as selected by the College Sports Communicators in the at-large category with three each from the Lion men's and women's golf teams.
Golf is the lone sport at East Texas A&M that is included in the at-large category for the CSC Academic All-America program. The Lion women selected to the All-District team are
Marie Baertz (Luxembourg),
Tais Moreno (Santa Cruz, Bolivia), and
Marie Naeher (Neuenbuerg, Germany). The honorees for the Lion men are
Janis Erll (Lich, Germany),
Davis Seybert (Trinity Midland), and
Matt Walters (Ballito, South Africa).
All six Lion honorees have also been selected to the Southland Conference All-Academic teams following the 2025-26 season.
Baertz is a construction engineering major and placed 12th at the conference championships, while earning second team all-conference honors. Moreno had a scoring average of 80.4 during the season, while being a psychology major. Naeher received her bachelor's degree in political science last month and had a scoring average of 79.7.
Erll finished fifth at the conference tournament, earning all-tournament honors and graduated with his degree in business administration. Seybert was named the Southland Newcomer of the Year, second team all-conference, and received his master's degree in business administration. Walters graduated with his bachelor's degree in finance last week, while having a scoring average of 74.5 during the 2025-26 season.
Based on evaluation from the Academic All-America committee, Seybert has advanced to the Academic All-America ballot and will be considered for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced later next month.
