Commerce, Texas – The A&M-Commerce softball team (12-8, 1-1) will play only their third and fourth games in 17 days with a doubleheader against LSC foe Cameron (13-2, 0-0) in nonconference action at the John Cain Family Stadium Wednesday starting at 3 p.m.
Leading the way for the Lions offensively is
Luci Ponce who has recorded in six straight games and nine of the last ten games. During the stretch she has five multi-hit games including the last two against Texas A&M-Kingsville. Ponce leads the Lions in RBI with 22 and in homeruns with five. She is also slugging at .833 clip and carries .577 on-base percentage to lead the team.
Overall, the Lions sport a .307 team batting average.
In the circle, A&M-Commerce has a 3.30 team ERA with
Aundria Romero leading the way with a 2.50 ERA. Romero has thrown 64.1 innings and has an ERA of 2.50, while
Selena Rima leads the team with a 44 strikeouts in 50.1 innings pitched and a 2.92 ERA.
Cameron, who is coming off of a doubleheaders sweep of Newman 12 days ago due to weather. The Aggies have a .395 team batting average with Carly Allerhelligen sports a .500 batting average to lead the team. Paige Danio leads the team with 29 RBI and is tied with Lauren Renneker and Tara Martini with eight homers.
On the rubber, the Aggies have a 3.28 ERA with Katelyn Craker leading the way with a 2.49 ERA and is 4-0 in six games. Kelsey Watson has thrown 38.2 innings to lead the team and is 5-1 with a 2.53 ERA with a team-high 46 strikeouts.
