Commerce, Texas – A&M-Commerce softball will host its final Lone Star Conference series Friday and Saturday at the John Cain Family Softball Field against Midwestern State.
The Lions enter the series after a four-game set against Tarleton State. A&M-Commerce won the final two games of the series against the TexAnns to earn the series split. Midwestern State won three of four games against then ranked No. 12 Angelo State in Wichita Falls.
Magen Lynch, who Thursday was named a top 25 candidate for the NFCA Freshman of the Year, leads the Lions with a .396 batting average good enough for 12th in the LSC. For Midwestern, Kelley Schaefer leads the team with a .367 average for 25th in the LSC.
The Lions have a .310 team batting average -- eighth in the LSC -- while the Mustangs sport .312 average for seventh in the league.
The two teams will open the series with Friday's doubleheader at 4 p.m. with the series ending Saturday at 1 p.m. with two games.
