COMMERCE – From the first play of the contest, the No. 9 Texas A&M University-Commerce Lions dominated the season opener, rolling to a 62-0 win over the University of Faith Glory Eagles in front of a crowd of 6,855 fans at Memorial Stadium on Thursday night.
With the win, Texas A&M-Commerce moves to 1-0 on the year and will travel to Delta State on Saturday, September 10, for the first of two straight road contests.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Lions scored on every drive of the first half with seven touchdowns and two field goals.

Tristan Slaughter scored three touchdowns of 1, 8, and 5 yards. He totaled 113 yards on 14 first half carries.

Kristov Martinez was a perfect 7-of-7 on PATs and made field goals of 32 and 37 yards.

Buck Wilson for the Lions' two passing touchdowns in the first half.
- At halftime, the Glory Eagles had gained only 62 yards of offense, with six yards of rushing offense.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions' starters took only three plays to score on the opening drive.
Richard Cooper gained 24 yards on a rush, followed by a 31-yard completion from Perez to
D'Arthur Cowan to set up Cooper's 1-yard touchdown.
Perez' 7-tard touchdown completion to Evans put the second score on the board for the Lions. Slaughter capped the next Lion drive with his first of three touchdowns from 1 yard out.
Slaughter carried the ball three times on the Lions' fourth scoring drive of the night, putting the points on the board from eight yards out. After a Martinez 32-yard field goal, A&M-Commerce led 31-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Slaughter's third touchdown of the night came on the opening drive of the second quarter, this time from five yards out. Martinez' second field goal of the night from 37 yards made it a 41-0 lead.
Richard Whitaker thundered to a 16-yard touchdown carry and Cate's 17-yard touchdown pass to Wilson just before the half put the hosts up 55-0.
