RICHARDSON – Texas A&M University-Commerce men's track and field star Ushan Perera has been selected as the Lone Star Conference Male Indoor Athlete of the Year by the conference head coaches. Perera wins the award for the second straight year.
 
Winning his second Indoor national championship and third overall, Perera (Mahabage, Sri Lanka) finished the season with the top mark in the high jump this season in Division II. At the LSC Championships, he set the new school record with a jump of 7 feet 5.25 inches (2.27m).
 
Perera is the first A&M-Commerce athlete to win a yearly award from the conference office two years in a row since Rashard Clark in 2018 and 2019.
