Ushan Perera has been selected to represent Sri Lanka at the Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games this summer.
Perera (Mahabage, Sri Lanka) met the high jump qualification standard set by Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) to make the eight-athlete contingent from Sri Lanka for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, from July 28-August 8. He also qualifies for the Asian Games, which are in Hangzhou, China, on September 10-25.
A three-time National Champion for the Lions, Perera is primed for another podium finish at Nationals as he leads the country in the high jump and was No. 2 in the world earlier this season, he is currently fourth with a season-best mark of 7 feet 5.25 inches (2.27m).
