CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Texas A&M University-Commerce women's golf team received the All-Scholar Team Grade Point Average Award from the Women's Golf Coaches Association for posting a team grade point average that was top 25 in NCAA Division II last season.
The Lions' team GPA of 3.69 stands No. 19 among all Division II women's golf programs during the 2021-22 academic year.
Julianna Crow (Trinity School of Midland),
Karlee Nichols (San Antonio – Smithson Valley),
Michelle Becker (San Antonio – Reagan), and
Sophie-Charlott Hempel (Pirmasens, Germany) received All-America Scholar honors from the WGCA as well.
"Being a student-athlete can be extremely challenging at times with afternoon practices, early morning workouts, and lots of time on the road for tournaments but these women have made that seem easy this year," said coach
Lise Malherbe. "The hours of hard work in the classroom have proven fruitful and I am extremely proud of each individual on the team for their dedication."
Reaching the NCAA National Championships for the second year in a row and making the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season, the Lions are one of eight teams that competed in the 2022 NCAA Division II National Championships to also receive the WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Award.
The Lions look forward to competing in NCAA Division I and the Southland Conference this fall. The full schedule can be found
