COMMERCE – The full Texas A&M University-Commerce track and field teams are back in action this weekend with two meets, the Howie Ryan Invitational and the Tyson Invitational.

FIELD OF TEAMS
At Houston, the Lions are among 13 teams competing and it is a loaded field in Fayetteville this weekend with 33 teams competing in the meet. Plenty of Division I teams as well as a few Division II and some junior colleges are slated to compete in Arkansas.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE LIONS
After this weekend's meets, the Lions have one more meet before the conference championships. They return to Arkansas next Friday for the Arkansas Qualifier.
MAURY BRINGS HOME A WEEKLY HONOR
Maia Maury (Noisy-Le-Grand, France) is this week's Southland Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week. She is the second Lion to win a weekly honor this season, joining teammate
Micky Ferdinand (Micoud, Saint Lucia).
LION MEN
J.T. Smith (Klein Oak) competes at Arkansas this weekend and is second in the Southland this season with a time of 6.62 seconds in the 60 meter dash.
Delan Edwin (Castries, Saint Lucia) is fifth with a time of 6.72 seconds and
Ibrahim Fuseini (Accra, Ghana) is sixth with a time of 6.75 seconds.
The trio is also top six in the 200 meter dash. Edwin is second with a time of 21.10, Fuseini is fifth with a time of 21.39 seconds, and Smith is sixth with a time of 21.41 seconds.
In the 400 meter dash,
Philip Krenek (Kostelní Strimelice, Czech Republic) is third with a time of 48.08 seconds, Conner Stockerl (The Woodlands) is sixth with a time of 48.72 seconds, and
Eddie Barrientes (Chisholm Trail) is seventh with a time of 48.73 seconds.
Alex Speer (Robinson) ranks seventh in the Southland with a time of 4:22.96 in the one mile run. The men's 4x400 meter relay team of Barrientes, Stockerl, Krenek, and Edwin lead the Southland with a time of 3:13.63 seconds.
In field events, Ferdinand leads the Southland with a clearance mark of 6 feet 11 inches (2.11m) in the high jump.
Tyke Owens (Lebanon Trail) is fourth with a mark of 6 feet 9 inches (2.06m). Ferdinand also ranks fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 15 feet 1 inch (4.60m).
Chandler King (Hughes Springs) and Ferdinand are 6-7 in the long jump. King's season-best mark is 23 feet 2.5 inches (7.07m) and Ferdinand's is 22 feet 11 inches (6.98m).
Trayveon Franklin (Montgomery) is second in the triple jump with a mark of 49 feet 5 inches (15.06m).
Trey Wheeler (Scurry-Rosser) ranks fourth in the heptathlon with a point total of 4,083, which he achieved last week.
LION WOMEN
In the 60 meter dash,
Sofia Khenfar (Lyon, France) and
Leah Pettis (McKinney North) are 5-6 with times of 7.59 seconds and 7.62 seconds, respectively. Pettis is also second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.37 seconds.
Naomi Ndukwe (Perserville, France) ranks second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.64 seconds. The Lions also have the fourth-fastest 4x400 meter relay in the conference of
Danielle Nicholson (McKinney North), Pettis, Ndukwe, and
Maia Maury (Noisy-Le-Grand, France).
Over in the field events,
Jenneil Jacobie (Piat Gros Islet, Saint Lucia) is sixth with a mark of 5 feet 5.25 inches (1.66m), while Maury is seventh with a mark of 5 feet 5 inches (1.65m).
Celeste Sela (Mont de Marsan, France) holds the top mark of 19 feet 6.25 inches (5.95m) in the long jump and
Amaka Ezukanma (Timber Creek) is fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 38 feet 1.5 inches (11.62m).
Maury is second in the pentathlon with a score of 3,497 and
Elizabeth Ortiz (Palacios) is fifth with a point total of 3,178.
