SANTIAGO DE LOS CABALLEROS, Dominican Republic – Former Texas A&M University-Commerce men's basketball player Clashon Gaffney has inked a professional basketball contract with the GIE Cibao Immortals in Dominican Republic.

The Cibao Immortals compete in the Dominican Liga de la Campeones (LDC), having won the west division in 2023. The 2023-24 season begins on October 26 with all games being played at Club Pueblo Nuevo.

Gaffney, a native of Clarksville, played just one season for the Lions, but has his name over all over the A&M-Commerce record books.

He was the 2021-22 Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Year, finished second in the country during the 2021-22 season in blocks per game, and helped the Lions finish second in the country in team blocks per game.

Gaffney helped the Lions return to the NCAA Tournament in 2021-22 as well.
