Lions begin 2025-26 with four event wins, one top 10 mark at Owen Hewett Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. – Four event wins as well as a top 10 mark in the country highlighted the start of the 2025-26 season for the East Texas A&M University track and field teams at the Owen Hewett Invitational on Friday at the Mosier Indoor Facility.
 
The Lions were among four Division I programs at the season-opening meet. This is the first season in the Division I era that East Texas A&M is eligible for NCAA Championships, thus all marks recorded by the Lions count towards possible qualification to the NCAA Indoor National Championships.

WOMEN
In the open section of the 200 meter dash, Hailey Ayers (Cy-Ranch) took fifth with a time of 26.53 seconds, while Corrine Watson (McKinney North) clocked in at 26.63 seconds for seventh in her first collegiate race.
 
Mackenzie Giles (Allen) took second in the open 60 meter dash for 7.79 seconds. Bre'Anna Lacy (Life Waxahachie) clocked in at 8.053 seconds for seventh. In the invitational portion of the 60 meter dash, Niamh Le'Gall (Wallasey, England) finished fifth with a time of 7.66 seconds.
 
Giles recorded a time of 25.91 seconds for third in the 200 meter dash, followed by Sydnee Wilson (Lewisville) in fourth with a time of 25.92 seconds. Savannah Harvey (Shawnee, Kan.) took sixth with a time of 26.20 seconds and then Lauryn Kosel (Waco – Midway) posted a time of 26.25 seconds for seventh.
 
The day on the track concluded with a time of 4:26.81 in the 4x400 meter relay by Le'Gall, Ayers, Harvey, and Giles.
 
Over in the field events, Tina Samson (Benin, Nigeria) threw 40-3 (12.27m) for fourth in the open shot put. Evelyn Cortes (Bogota, Colombia) placed seventh with a throw of 36-3.4 (11.06m). Ella Patterson (Kingsbridge, England) had a throw of 37-3.25 (11.36m) for eighth in the open weight throw.
 
Cortes also jumped 18-8 (5.69m) for second in the open long jump. Jenneil Jacobie (Piat Grand Riviere, Saint Lucia) won the invitational high jump by clearing 5-10.75 (1.80m). That mark currently puts her 10th in the country.
 
In the invitational weight throw, Romi Griese (Salzkotten, Germany) had a throw of 45-9 (13.94m) for 10th. Peyton Berry (Argyle) cleared 12-9.5 (3.90m) for fourth in the pole vault and Kira van den Ham (Bunnik, The Netherlands) cleared 11-9.75 (3.60m) for fifth.
 
Samson jumped 18-9.25 (5.72m) for ninth in the invitational long jump.
 
MEN
Naataanii Collins (Edcouch-Elsa) timed a personal-best time of 9:18.53 in the open 3,000 meter run for fifth. Jayshon Hardimon (Lake Dallas) won the open 60 meter dash with a time of 6.91 seconds and then Cam Wooley (Frisco Liberty) clocked in at 6.99 seconds for fourth.
 
Three Lions finished in the top four for the invitational 60 meter dash. Enoch Fosuhene (Accra, Ghana) took second with a time of 6.68 seconds, Oguz Uyar (Canakale, Turkey) clocked in at 6.72 seconds for third, and Kingsley Ayebide (Burutu, Nigeria) timed 6.78 seconds for fourth.
 
Cheyne West (Rochester, England) took second in the invitational 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.05 seconds and RJ Fannin (Princeton) came in fifth with a time of 8.53 seconds. Cash Goodman (Blue Ridge) took sixth with a time of 8.55 seconds. Myles Redding (Waco – University) won the invitational 800 meter run, clocking in at 1:53.79.
 
In the invitational 3,000 meter run, Yosef Abdulrazeq (Mansfield Legacy) had a time of 9:02.79 for ninth.
The Lion quartet of Wooley, West, Hardimon and Redding won the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:22.48.
 
Among field events, Jeyden Coleman (Humble – Summer Creek) threw 45-9 (13.94m) for third in the open weight throw. Joseph Rolland (Wills Point) jumped 22-6.5 (6.87m) for fourth in the open long jump. He also had a jump of 47-7 (14.50m) for sixth in the invitational triple jump and Collin Lusk (Fort Worth – Chisholm Trail) jumped 46-8 (14.22m) for seventh.
 
Jonas Gran (Riehen, Switzerland) had a throw of 42-7 (12.98m) for fifth and Joshua Nate (Geneva School of Boerne) took 10th with a throw of 38-6.25 (11.74m). Parker Williams (Decatur) placed fourth in the invitational pole vault, clearing 15-7 (4.75m). He tied for third, but was placed fourth based on attempts.
 
In the open high jump, Isaac Livingston (Life Waxahachie) cleared 6-0.5 (1.84m) for fourth and Calen Jones (Duncanville) took fifth in the invitational high jump by clearing 6-10.25 (2.09m).
 
Coleman also took fifth in the invitational shot put with a mark of 49-0.75 (14.95m). In the invitational long jump, Lusk had a jump of 23-6.75 (7.18m) for fourth, followed by Gran in ninth with a mark of 22-5 (6.83m) and Jean Duparay (Servian, France) having a mark of 22-3.75 (6.80m) for 10th.
