KERRVILLE – East Texas A&M University men's golfer
Cooper Watt is tied for third place entering the final round of the Southland Conference Championships at the Comanche Trace Golf Club.
On a day where all eight teams completed the first round in the morning, followed by the 18-hole second round on Tuesday, the Lions are in third place after the two rounds with a team score of 586 (296-290).
UIW is in the team lead by four strokes over UTRGV, totaling a score of 574 through two rounds. The Cardinals' Joel Talusen is in firm control of the individual medal with a seven-stroke lead after 36 holes with a score of 135.
Watt (Rockford, Ill.) shot a 75 in the second round to total a score of 143, tying for third place.
Janis Erll (Lich, Germany) rose 11 spots in the standings in the second round, shooting a score of 70 and is tied for ninth with a score of 146 (76-70).
To round out the Lion five,
Matt Walters (Ballito, South Africa) is tied for 21
st place with a score of 149 (75-74),
Davis Seybert (Trinity Midland) has a score of 151 (77-74) to tie for 26
th, and
Nicke Kaajavirta (Kajaani, Finland) is in 31
st place with a score of 81-72 (153).
The final round of the Southland Conference Championships begins at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. The Lions are in the final group of pairings with Kaajavirta teeing off at 11:30 a.m. followed by the rest of the team in nine-minute intervals.
