KERRVILLE – East Texas A&M University men's golfer
Janis Erll earned all-Southland Conference Championships honor as he finished tied for fifth at the Comanche Trace Golf Club this week as did the Lions as a team to close out the 2025-26 season.
Playing his final collegiate round, Erll (Lich, Germany) rose four spots in the standings on Wednesday to finish with a three-round score of 216 (76-70-70), tying for fifth with HCU's Brooks Pawlak.
The Lions totaled a team score of 881 to finish a stroke behind New Orleans for fifth, while UTRGV edged out UIW by a stroke for the team title. The Cardinals' Joel Talusen won the individual medal by three strokes with a score of 211 (68-67-76).
"I am happy for Janis and his finish this week inside the top 5, said director of golf
Brian Dolehide. "As a team we put ourselves in the final group in the final round with the opportunity to bring home the trophy. We just were not able to get it done this week."

Behind Erll,
Cooper Watt (Rockford, Ill.) tied for 13
th with a score of 220 (68-75-77),
Davis Seybert (Trinity Midland) climbed eight spots in the standings on Wednesday to tie for 18
th place with a score of 222 (77-74-71).
Matt Walters (Ballitto, South Africa) tied for 27
th place, shooting a 226 (75-74-77) and
Nicke Kaajavirta (Kajaani, Finland) finished 35
th with a score of 231 (81-72-78).
