FRISCO – East Texas A&M University men's golfer Davis Seybert has been named the Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year on Wednesday afternoon and selected to second team all-conference as well.
 
Seybert (Trinity Midland), who transferred to the Lions from Wyoming prior to this season, is the first Lion men's golfer to be named to the all-Southland Conference team in the Division I era. He is also the program's first Newcomer of the Year since 2022.
 
During the 2025-26 season, Seybert finished in the top 20 in all nine tournaments, including five top 10 finishes. He placed a season-best third at the LaTour Intercollegiate, which the Lions won as a team.
 
Seybert had an 18^th place finish last week at the conference championships. He had a scoring average of 72.0 through the 27 rounds and holds a Clippd ranking of 601.
