MIRAMAR, Fla. – The East Texas A&M University men's golf team finished 13^th at the Sandestin Collegiate Classic with a three-round team total of 866 at the par-70, 6,901-yard Raven course this week.
 
Jace Chaney (Ardmore, Okla.) led the Lions with a tie for seventh finish individually at 207, closing with a 69 in the third round. ET posted rounds of 281, 293 and 292 at Sandestin Resort's Raven course for 13^th, while West Florida and Mercer tied for the team title.
 
Individually, West Florida's Hector Arriaga, who competed as an individual, won the tournament with a three-round score of 200.
 
"It was great to begin our season in a place like Destin, Florida. We had a few strong weeks of preparation leading into the event, but with a young roster and three players making their collegiate debuts, we didn't quite know what to expect," said first-year coach Jason Eslinger. "This week showed us where we are and where we need to improve. It's still early, and we'll get back home, go to work and continue getting better each day."
 
"It's going to be a long season filled with highs and lows, and we're excited to embrace the challenge ahead."
 
Elsewhere for the Lions, Daniel Ferguson (Duncanville) tied for 43^rd at 217, while Brady Mann (Bridgeport) tied for 58^th at 221. Linus Samuelsen (Stavanger, Norway) and Axel Larsen (Sarpsborg, Norway) each tied for 73^rd at 228.
 
Ferguson tied for 43rd at 7-over 217, finishing with rounds of 74, 72 and 71. Mann tied for 58th at 11-over 221, highlighted by an opening-round 71.
