COMMERCE — The Texas A&M University–Commerce soccer team concludes its non-conference portion of the schedule on the road this week at the Colorado Buffaloes on Thursday and the Colorado College Tigers on Sunday.
LIONS WEEKEND SCHEDULE
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE LIONS
The Lions fell to UTSA, 2-0, in Thursday's home match. The Roadrunners started off the match with a goal in the third minute and another one in the 85th minute. During the match UTSA outshot 9-4 and had the 8-4 edge in corner kicks. UTSA improved to 2-0-1 on the season, while the Lions fell to 0-3.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE LIONS
A&M-Commerce plays its first Southland Conference match at home on September 9 against Houston Baptist at 7 p.m.
DOUBLE THE FUN!
Dallas natives and twin sisters,
Mya Mitchell and
Nya Mitchell from Mesquite Horn High School, join the Lions this season. The Mitchells are one of 27 sets of twins in NCAA Division I women's soccer this fall and A&M-Commerce is one of 22 schools with a set of twins on its women's soccer roster this season.
PRESEASON POLL
In its inaugural season in the Southland Conference, the Lions are picked to finish eighth in the nine-time conference. A&M-Commerce is picked to finish ahead of Nicholls and defending conference champion, Northwestern State is picked first.

SCOUTING THE BUFFALOES
Coming off a season in which they went 8-7-4, the No. 25 ranked Colorado Buffaloes held Valparaiso scoreless on Friday with a 3-0 win making head coach Danny Sanchez the Buffaloes' all-time winningest coach in his 11th season before playing to a 2-2 draw with No. 9 BYU on Monday afternoon.
Aiding in the team's second shutout of the season, goalkeepers Dani Hansen and Bella Grust turned away all three of Valparaiso's shots on goal. Securing her fifth goal of the season, junior forward Shyra James tied the match in the 81st minute against the Cougars. Extending her scoring streak to eight straight matches.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
The Tigers are 3-1 to start the season with wins over Army, Bucknell, and UC Santa Barbara. Colorado College takes on Southeast Missouri State at home on Thursday before hosting the Lions on Sunday.
Through four matches, Erin Ewers and Adelaide Gaffney with four points each. In goal Ally Wakeman has a save percentage of .737, logging 270 minutes played the Tigers are under the direction of first year coach Keri Sanchez.
