FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Celeste Sela and
Veronika Kramarenko set new school records on the first day of the season for the Texas A&M University-Commerce track & field team at the Arkansas Invitational on Friday at the Tyson Indoor Track Center.
Sela (Mont de Marsan, France) won the long jump event, while improving upon her school, while Kramarenko (Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine) made her Lion debut in indoor high jump and set the school record as well.

WOMEN
In her second attempt of the day, Sela jumped 19-7 (5.97m), which put her in first place and improved her own school record as well. None of the jumpers were able to catch her in the remaining four jumps, as her mark of 5.97m is top 25 in NCAA Division I.
Kramarenko cleared the first three heights in her first attempts. She missed the first two attempts at 5-10 (1.78m) but cleared it on her third attempt to set the new school record. She now holds the school record in both indoor and outdoor high jump.
Jenneil Jacobie (Piat Grand Rivière, Saint Lucia) cleared 5-5 (1.65m) to tie for sixth place.
Dejah Fuller (Waxahachie Life) jumped 39-3.25 (11.97m) in the triple jump for third place.
On the track,
Kiara Brown (Dallas – Carter) timed 38.43 seconds to finish as the runner-up in the 300 meter dash.
Leah Pettis (McKinney North) finished fifth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.42 seconds.
Cece Charles (Sauteurs, Grenada) timed 25.19 seconds for ninth.
MEN
Ibrahim Fuseini (Accra, Ghana) raced to a time of 6.75 seconds in the 60 meter dash finals to finish as the runner up, a second behind Louisiana Tech's Julian Forde.
Zayden Davis (Colorado Springs, Colo.) qualified for the 60 meter hurdles finals and timed 8.02 seconds to finish sixth.
To close out the day on track, the 4x400 meter relay team of Davis,
Tomlee Thomas Jr. (Baytown – Channelview),
Eddie Barrientes (Chisholm Trail), and
Philip Krenek (Kostelní Strimelice, Czech Republic), finished seventh with a time of 3:18.78.
Justin Vincent (Agde, France) jumped 23-6.75 (7.18m) for sixth in the long jump, while
Chandler King (Hughes Springs) made finals and finished ninth with a jump of 23-1.75 (7.05m). Tahje Parrish (Picayune, Miss.) placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 48-0.75 (14.65m), in his first competition in nearly two years.
UP NEXT
The Lions are off for the rest of the month. The next competition for A&M-Commerce is scheduled for February 2-3 at the Colorado Invitational.
