COMMERCE – The Texas A&M University-Commerce track & field team heads to Waco for the first full team competition of outdoor season this weekend at the Clyde Hart Classic, hosted by Baylor.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE LIONS
The Lions, as a team, last competed at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships last month. The men finished fifth, while the women took sixth. Medalists for the Lions included,
Ibrahim Fuseini (Accra, Ghana) with a silver in the 60 meter dash and the 200 meter dash as well as
Zayden Davis (Colorado Springs, Colo.) with a bronze in the 60 meter hurdles. On the women's side,
Magdaline Campo (Haiti),
Dejah Fuller (Waxahachie Life), and
Leah Pettis (McKinney North) collected silver medals each in the high jump, triple jump, and 60 meter dash, respectively.
LIONS BRING HOME HARDWARE
During the indoor season, the Lions earned five Southland Conference Athlete of the Week awards.
Kiara Brown (Dallas - Carter) was named the women's track athlete of the week twice, Fuseini and
Jordan Johnson (Guateng, South Africa) were named men's track athlete of the week once each, and
Celeste Sela (Mont de Marsan, France) was named to women's field athlete of the week once.
EARLY START TO OUTDOOR SEASON
A few Lions did compete at the UNT Bill Schmidt Classic last Friday in Denton, before the rest of the meet was canceled due to inclement weather.
Dominic Escamilla (Houston - Brazoswood) threw 41-9.25 (12.73m) in the shot put, which ranks 19th in the Southland. His throw of 154-7 (47.13m) in the hammer throw is seventh and
Travis Balcar (Lexington) is 14th with a mark of 111-10 (34.09m).
