Fuseini records two top 30 times in Division I at John Jacob Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. – Ibrahim Fuseini recorded two top 30 marks in NCAA Division I on Saturday to finish the John Jacob Invitational at the John Jacob Track & Field Complex.

COMBINED EVENTS
Magdaline Campo (Haiti) finished with 4,497 points in the heptathlon, placing sixth. She closed out the competition with a time of 2:35.25 in the 800 meter run. This was the first heptathlon in her Lion career.
 
In the decathlon, Joshua Nate (Geneva School of Boerne) took third with 5,215 points. He timed 4:57.16 in the 1,500 meter run to finish first. It was also Nate's first decathlon as a Lion.
 
WOMEN
Jenneil Jacobie (Piat Gros Islet, Saint Lucia) cleared 5-7 (1.70m) to tie for second, but placed third based on attempts in the high jump. Cassandra Rendon (San Antonio – Warren) threw 151-03 (46.10m) for eighth in the discus.
 
On the track, Alondra Campa (Kaufman) timed 12:47.38 for fourth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
 
MEN
In the high jump, Justine Jimoh (Benin, Nigeria) was second with a mark of 6-11.75 (2.13m), while Xak Edwards (Greenville) cleared a new personal-best of 6-6.75 (2.00m) to tie for eighth place. Tahje Parrish (Picayune, Miss.) recorded a jump of 49-9.5 (14.87m) for fourth in the triple jump.
 
The Lions had three runners finish in the top 10 of the 1,500 meter run. Nicholas Deutsch (Frisco) timed 4:03.29 for fourth, while Alex Speer (Robinson) finished ninth with a time of 4:08.54, and Casey Novelo (Bedford, Trinity) clocked in at 4:09.87 for 10th.
 
Ibrahim Fuseini (Accra, Ghana) finished second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.24 seconds, which is 16th in the country, while Enoch Fosuhene (Accra, Ghana) timed 10.42 seconds for eighth, Oguz Uyar (Turkey) took ninth with a time of 10.47 seconds, and Tyke Owens (Lebanon Trail) timed 10.52 seconds for 10th.
 
Fuseini ran a new-personal time of 20.68 seconds for the top time in the 200 meter dash, which is also 27th in the country. Fosuhene timed 21.289 seconds for fifth and Uyar was sixth with a time of 21.41 seconds for sixth.
 
With a time of 10:28.02, Yosef Abdulrazeq (Mansfield Legacy) won the 3,000 meter steeplechase. The meet closed out with the 4x400 meter relay squad of Fosuhene, Eddie Barrients (Chisholm Trail), Ziphion Reevey (Ocean Township, N.J.), and Fuseini timing 3:12.48 for third. It is also the season-best time for the Lions.

The Lions are right back in action next weekend in Waco at the Michael Johnson Invitational.
