COMMERCE – The East Texas A&M University track & field is set to begin the outdoor season on Thursday in Houston at the Kirk Baptiste Invitational.

A LOOK AT THE LIONS
The meet in Houston is the first in the outdoor season for the Lions, who last competed in the Southland Conference Indoor Championships on March 3-4. East Texas A&M finished third on the men's side, while the women finished fifth at the indoor championships. Last season, the Lion men took fourth at the conference championships, while the women placed seventh.
Returning for the Lions on the men's side is
Ibrahim Fuseini (Accra, Ghana), who won the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, and 4x400 meter relay conference championships a year ago.
Enoch Fosuhene (Accra, Ghana),
Philip Krenek (Prague, Czech Republic), and
Oguz Uyar (Cannakale, Turkey) raced on the 4x400 meter relay a team last season and all return this year.
Nicholas Deutsch (Frisco) earned a silver medal in the 3,000 meter steeplechase a year ago and returns this season as do all four legs of the 4x100 meter relay, which won a silver medal last season. Along with Fuseini, Fosuhene, Uyar,
Tyke Owens (Lebanon Trail) raced on the 4x100 meter relay last season.
On the women's side, returning for the Lions is conference champion a year ago in the high jump,
Jenneil Jacobie (Piat Gros Islet, Saint Lucia) as well as the bronze medalist,
Veronika Kramarenko (Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine).
Cassandra Rendon (San Antonio - Madison) took third in the discus last season as well and is returning this season.
