FRISCO – Nine East Texas A&M University golfers have been named to the Southland Conference All-Academic teams on Wednesday.
On the women's side, the Lion honorees are
Marie Baertz (Luxembourg),
Marie Naeher (Neuenbuerg, Germany),
Linnea Olsson (Beddingestrand, Sweden),
Tais Moreno (Santa Cruz, Bolivia), and
Becky Baberg (Asendorf, Germany) are the honorees.
The honorees for the Lion men are
Davis Seybert (Trinity Midland),
Janis Erll (Lich, Germany),
Nicke Kaajavirta (Kajaani, Finland),
Matt Walters (Ballitto, South Africa).
To be eligible for all-academic distinction, an athlete must hold a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average through the semester prior to the sport's championship, completed at least one full academic semester at the nominating school prior to the current season, and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions during the most recently completed season. Student-Athlete of the Year nominees must have held at least a 3.50 GPA and have completed at least one semester of athletic competition at the nominating school, including the current season.
Baertz was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, named to 2025-26 SLC Second Team All-Conference, SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Dean's List Scholar. She is a construction engineering major and finished 12th at this year's conference championships.
Naeher has been selected to the President's List as well as the CSC Academic All-District, SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll, and recorded a scoring average of 79.7. She received her bachelor's degree in political science last week.
Olsson has also been named to the dean's list and SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll. She had a top five performance during the season and is a management major.
Moreno is a psychology major, while being named to the dean's list, SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll, and had a scoring average of 80.4.
In her freshman season, Baberg had a scoring average of 81.7, while being named to the president's list and SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Seybert is the 2025-26 Southland Newcomer of the Year, while being named to second team all-Southland, CSC Academic All-District, President's List, SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll, recorded five top 10 finishes and graduated with his master's in business administration.
Erll was selected to the all-tournament team at the conference championships, tying for fifth place, while having a scoring average of 74.4 and being named to CSC Academic All-District, President's List, and the SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration.
Kaajavirta also received his bachelor's degree in business administration, being named to the CSC Academic All-District, President's List, and the SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Walters had a scoring average of 74.5 and was named to the President's List, SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll, and graduated with his bachelor's degree in finance.
