Joe Castillo heads into his first season as the offensive coordinator for Texas A&M-Commerce.

A former graduate assistant for the Lions from 1995-99 joins the Texas A&M-Commerce coaching staff after being the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Ronald Reagan High School in San Antonio, Texas.While at A&M-Commerce, Castillo received his bachelor's and went on to earn his master's in education while serving as a graduate assistant. He worked primarily with the wide receivers and served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.

After earning his master's degree, Castillo went on to coaching at The Colony High School where he served as the receivers and special teams coach for the varsity. After spending four years at The Colony, he was hired as the co-offensive coordinator position at North Garland High School from 2002-03 and moved on to the varsity wide receiver coach/special teams coordinator position at nearby McKinney High School from 2003-04.

Castillo is married to the former Angie Nunez, who is also a graduate of A&M-Commerce. They have a three-year old daughter, Mary Jo.
