Veingrad was a four-year letter winner on the offensive line for the Lions. He was named a First Team All-American in 1984 and was a two-time First Team All-Conference selection and was a team captain as both a junior and a senior. He was an integral part of the 1983 LSC Championship team that finished with an 8-2 overall record and a 6-1 conference record.
Following his collegiate career, Veingrad went on to play multiple positions on the offensive line in the National Football League. After going undrafted in 1985, he signed with the Green Bay Packers and played for them from 1986-1990. He then joined the Dallas Cowboys from 1991-1992 and was a member of the 1992 Super Bowl Championship team.
